Cocomomo – delicious salads and great brunch

EDIT: I went back to Coco Momo in April 2015 and had this wonderful chorizo and squid salad… with bits of quinoa, capers and lemon oil. Stunning!
My flat mate and I discovered Cocomomo a couple of weeks ago when we were wandering around Marylebone. I was looking for brunch, and she was looking for a light lunch – Cocomomo gave us the option of combining the two in a nicely decorated, hipster-but-not-too-Shoreditch way.

Cocomomo has beautiful big windows that let in the light, which is far preferable to the ordinary dingy pub
It was a beautifully sunny day, and so we sat by the window and benefitted from the warm sunshine (in London, you have to take what you can get). After perusing the menu, I opted for Eggs Benedict (my staple brunch dish, although others also looked fantastic), while my flatmate took the Coco Lunch – a soup and salad combo with a reasonable price of £9.50. We also got some fries on the side, but these were a little unnecessary, albeit deliciously crispy!
The service was smiling and friendly and the food was stellar. The menu seems like standard pub fare, but the salads are really gourmet, which makes a nice change (roast pear and Stilton, tiger prawns and pink grapefruit, baked ricotta and alfalfa, to name but a few). The soup of the day, butternut squash, was delightful, and the Eggs Benedict were as good as any I’ve ever had, and better than most.
I definitely recommend Cocomomo for a nice lunch, and I’ll be heading back soon to check out their evening menu (I love the idea of the Coco Board!). I’ll also definitely be checking out the other restaurants that are part of the Food and Fuel chain, as they have many branches around London.
